EURUSD moves down toward support after testing upside resistance

Posted: 13 Nov 2009 11:49 AM PST

In quiet trade, the EURUSD peaked just above the 1.4933 target and is now back down testing support at the 200 hour MA.  The level comes in at the 1.4894 and I would expect buyers against the level.  The market is likely to drift into the close of the day and the week.

$USDCHF finding support against the 100 hour MA

The USDCHF has been involved in the USD$ selling this afternoon, but has been slowed by the 100 hour MA. The level comes in at the 1.0100 level.  The low reached 1.0101.  I would expect to see continued buyers against the level with stops on a move below.  The upside has resistance at the 1.0133 level now.

EURUSD squeezes higher as London exits

Stocks are up 100 now and the illiquid conditions pushes the EURUSD higher.  The price is approaching the trendline support line from an earlier channel and the midpoint of the move down from Wedsnesday high. That level comes in at the 1.4933 area.

EURUSD 200 hour MA tested at 1.4889. Looking for sellers

London is getting ready to exit and is buying EURUSD, stocks have moved higher and this has led to a move back up in the EURUSD. The pair is testing the 200 hour MA at the 1.4889 level.  Look for sellers against the level. A break higher will look toward the high for the day and the 38.2% retracement at the 1.4901/1,4907 level.  This should cap the topside, however.

Support now comes in at 1.4868/75 area.

Watching AUDUSD as it tests the 100 hour MA at the 0.9290 level

The AUDUSD is pushing on the 100 hour MA at the 0.9290 level. The last 5 or 6 hours has seen the moving average being tested with a move up to 0.9298. However, each time the price has come back down - albeit modestly.  The last few declines on the hourly chart took the pair down to the lowest level in the last 8 hours.  The rebound back higher, may now look to extend the upside.  Watch the 0.9290 level.  A break higher with confirmation via a move above 0.9300 would be positive as the London fix approaches at 11:00 AM.

GBPUSD remains contained by intraday moving average support and resistance

The 100 and 20 bar moving average on the 5 minute chart is containing the top and bottom in NY trade.

The 200 bar MA comes in at 1.6627. The topside comes in at 1.6665.  The 100 hour MA also comes into play above at 1.6659.  In between here, choose your direction and/or be patient for a move toward one of the extremes.

Activity remains light so far.  Stocks are up 40 points (dow).  Oil is falling - down $1.31.  Gold is unchanged.
